I DARE You...
It's been snowing like crazy in Holland for several days now. It got incredibly ridiculous yesterday, to the point where I-196 was closed for part of the day. My RD put up notices all over the doors of the building warning the residents not to go out driving because of the conditions.
Following an e-mail last night saying we'd be notified if this was the case, I woke up this morning and discovered that Engedi cancelled services due to hazardous road conditions (more snow, lots of wind, extreme cold, and low visibility). Looking out the window, I could immediately see it. I was a little sad that services were cancelled, but in a way, it's pretty cool.
As we saw in Holland yesterday and at least this morning, the snow has ground a lot of activity almost to a halt. I even told Nate and Nik yesterday when they asked what I was doing in Phelps, "I had to get money on the laundry card but I don't want to go back out there." It's pretty marvelous what snow can do.
Snow is made of nothing more than frozen water and air. It's kind of amazing to think about it that way. But as we've seen, blow enough of it around with wind and it can stop just about anything. Just think: a bit of air & water mixed up with some moving air can shut down a city, even up in the north where we're used to snow.
God designed snow and wind when He made the Earth. Yet people say He doesn't exist. I dare anyone to challenge His existence or His power after a blizzard.
