Hey Jeremy, teach the kids loops!
As a teacher, I have officially begun to always look for ideas for things to use in my classroom. If I think something might be useful for a lesson, I'll run it by my mentor teacher.
Today was no exception. Though it wasn't in the plan, we taught the students about GarageBand and loops in modern music, especially popular music.
As we were teaching, I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if they could hear an example of a loop used in a professional musician's song?" So I ran the idea by Mr. DeBoer and during lunch, brought the CD to school and had the afternoon classes listen to it.
Yes, that's right. Jeremy Camp was part of the lesson today. His use of loops in "When You Are Near" was a great example for the students to hear how they're utilized.
Who'd think my musical tastes would one day help me in teaching?
