I'll be glad to.

My first week of camp counseling has ended. It was a week of firsts along many fronts.

It was the first time I've been part of a full-fledged worship band as an instrumentalist-vocalist.

It was the first time I've had charge of 7 boys like this. They depended on me to help look after them along every front in some way-physically, emotionally, mentally, and to some degree, spiritually.

It was the first time I've had to deal with a weather-related crisis. Duane almost pounded the door down and told us that we needed to get the campers into the lodge game room with their sleeping bags and pillows because cabins weren't safe.

It was the first time I've had the joys of a flooded cabin. I had to help keep my charges entertained while maintenance and SMTs squeegeed, mopped, and shop-vac'ed the standing water out. Our clean-up theme that day had a cruel sense of irony: the River of Life from Revelation 22.

And it was the first time I've led someone to Christ. I'll never forget that moment as long as I live, I don't think. It happened in the middle of Center Lake, drifting in a red canoe. I never thought I'd be ready, but somehow I was. Washington Avenue/Cornerstone Baptist Church, Engedi Church, Chapel & The Gathering at Hope College, Bible Studs, and everything else I should mention helped make me as ready as I needed to be. And now Heaven rejoices because there's another name in the Book of Life. And even cooler: he asked me to pray for him right before he left CLBC.

I am willing. I'll be glad to.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer holds. I think I better hold on tight.
