A chance to talk

Today I had a chance to just chat with some of my students.

I wasn't really asking for it. I actually got to the second middle school a little late, but I walked into the classroom and found some of my students in there just hanging out during lunch talking. They said hello and didn't seem to mind that I had walked in.

I like those times. It's nice to be out of the element of always teaching and managing a whole class full of students and having to listen to vocal parts and accompaniment and just hear what's on their mind. It lets me connect. That's something I relish about teaching middle school and I know that could happen at the high school, too.

And one even said how much she enjoys choir. That made my day.

Maybe it's in my future after all... to teach choir at the secondary level. I can always have hope.
