Pool Tourney

All I was trying to do was wash the dishes.

Brandon answered my phone and held it up to my face while I had my hands covered in soapy water. I finally knew what it was like to be my mother when the phone rang for her while her hands are covered in -insert wet substance here-. Talk about crossing personal space... oh well, memorable.

I was invited to a pool tournament. I didn't expect much of it-I'm terrible at pool. Decent at Yahoo! Pool, but the real game... meh. Ross demolished me last time. Nonetheless, I went over to the Golden 8 Ball to support Nate and his endeavor to hang on to his job and bring in some business to the place.

And so the tourney began. I found a teammate: Morgan! She claimed to play about as well as I did, so we got along well as players. All we needed was a good name. After deciding the cue sticks could be dangerous, we settled on "Lethal Weapon."

First round: Lethal Weapon vs. Cooks Schnooksies. I thought we'd lose when we had a couple balls left and they were down to the 8 ball, but somehow, they scratched their sunken 8 ball shot. We win!

Second round: Las Girls vs. Lethal Weapon. Caitlin & Sara were friendly opponents and about evenly matched for us. It was a shooting match, but we lost this one. They sunk the 8 ball.

Third round: Lethal Weapon vs. Golden Balls. Justin & Dan should have won. But something about our name did it... another self-destruction on our opponents' part when they went for the 8 ball.

Fourth round: Lethal Weapon vs. Team Awesome. Sean & his partner had us cornered, but Morgan and I finally scored a victory the real way: sinking the 8 ball on a called shot. Score!

Fifth round: Kumquat vs. Lethal Weapon. So the teams of Kumquat, Las Girls, and Lethal Weapon all made it to 3 victories at the same time, forcing a showdown. Since Las Girls had played both Kumquat and Lethal Weapon before, those two teams faced off to see who would play Las Girls for the grand prize. Unfortunately, Lethal Weapon didn't slice the Kumquat, but we made a valiant effort.

Seven teams entered... here's the top three:
1. Kumquat
2. Las Girls
3. Lethal Weapon
