Why bring in the media?
What a day.
I went to school and worked with the Treble Choir. It's a joy to hear how well the girls have learned the music, but sometimes it's so frustrating. I sometimes worry that I've gotten too immersed in singing with so many other good musicians in Chapel Choir that I have my standards too high. But at the same time, maybe it's good. Maybe if I'm a little more demanding than the girls are used to, they'll give more. It's so hard to find that balance.
Adv. Choral Conducting is hard, but it's been kind of cool. I think I might be finally starting to fight off the shakes that I always get when I'm in front of Dr. Richmond and my peers. I'm certainly not the master conductor yet, but I think having to conduct on a regular basis in front of singers has been good for my confidence. Dr. Richmond keeps mentioning how important that is, and I can see where it's helped me in my own musicianship. I'm starting to make myself more convincing.
Trygve held a time of prayer in the Pine Grove for everyone at Hope as a response to the tragedy at Virginia Tech. I thought maybe I shouldn't go because of lab for Science & Tech, but I'm glad I went. It just felt right to stop and pray with 100 others for people we don't even know but with whom we still grieve. I think what surprised me was the media coverage-two television stations and photographers from several newspapers. It makes me a little sad that doing what we as Christians do should attract that kind of media attention, but if it can be a witness to others, then I'm all for it.
And speaking of lab, it was just cool-I never thought I could build a camera and take a picture with it! I now have a really cool black and white picture of Central Avenue Reformed Church that I can claim that I shot and developed!
Combined Choirs is going to be fun. Another practice with College Chorus is looking encouraging. Mark your calendars for April 24 at 7:30 in Dimnent Chapel!
I'm now the Secretary-elect for Delta Omicron. Yay for being the writer-downer of important stuff!
