Meet the Seven Newest Botanical Family Members!
Okay, so despite the Angela's laughter of the Major General Music's spending part of the summer playing in the rocks and playing with the heavy red blocks to build the new retaining wall in front of the house, the project is DONE!
The fatherly figure, with assitance from the Major General Music along the way at various points, has dug up the four old yew bushes in front of the house, placed the dark brown dirt, planted eight holly bushes (six female, two male), placed topsoil, underlayment, laid the lovely new retaining wall in place of the rotten old railroad ties that faithfully guarded the old shrubs for over 30-some years, and replaced all the little decorative rocks in their rightful places.
But alas, there remains one more task, inspired by the motherly figure. The bushes need names! The Major General Music must choose six female names and two males names to correspond to the new botanic friends in front of the house. Below are the eight names chosen by the Major General Music. If you have a better idea, place your opinions in the comments box.
-Elizabeth
-Abigail
-Samuel
-Ruth
-Martha
-Peter
-Miriam
-Lois

I don't know about Lois. I know a Lois; not sure if that seems the right name to go with that crowd. Too bad they're not half male and half female you could get cool paired names. Romeo & Juliet, Robin & Marian, Mork & Mindy, Hansel & Gretel, Jack & Jill ect.

There actually is a common thread with all these names. Can anyone spot the said common thread?
Major_General_Music
OK my only common-thread guess is that they are friends from school?!?!
Hmmmm... what about "David"? That might be a strong name for a plant.

How about any of these...
Jill, Caspian, Peter, Edmund, Lucy, Susan, Aravis, Hwin, Shasta, Bree, Corin, Eustace, Digory, Polly, Tumnus...
Nope, these aren't friends from school! Every single one of these names appears in the Bible! Elizabeth was Mary's relative, Abigail was King David's wife, Samuel was an Old Testament prophet and for whom two books are named, Ruth was an ancestor to the Israelite kings and Jesus too, Martha was a friend of Jesus and sister to a different Mary and Lazarus too, Peter is the famous apostle who also gets two books named for him, Miriam was the big sis to Moses, and Lois is grandmother to Timothy.

Addendum: some of these are names of friends at school, but that is coincidental. I have friends at school named Elizabeth, Abigail (we call her Abby), Samuel (called Sam), Peter (several of these, one called Pete, another called Peter, blah blah blah), and Miriam too.

So, does that mean I get half credit?
dorothygale27
Well, I notified my readers of the correct answer which was not the same answer you supplied, but because 5 out of the 8 names are also names of friends at school, two of them applying to two people (Elizabeth and Peter), you get 9/16 credit!
