Lux, calida gravisque pura velut aurumAnd with that, another Christmas Vespers at Hope College has come and gone. Here are a few photo highlights that include the Major General Music (and a few that don't).
Here the Chapel Choir gets things going with the choral introit, "God Be In My Head."
Dr. Richmond happily conducts the music; the Chapel Choir sings from the back.
Our grand finale was none other than "Hallelujah!" (from: Messiah) by the man himself, George Frideric Handel.
Based on my conversations with people, the favorite piece was the Chapel Choir's "Lux Aurumque." The text, interestingly, was first written in English and then translated into Latin. Somehow, I think the Latin has a LOT more power.
Lux,
calida gravisque pura velut aurum
et canunt angeli moliter
modo natum.
The English translation...
Light,
warm and heavy as pure gold
and the angels sing softly
to the new-born baby.
Throw in some UNBELIEVABLE harmonies and what we have here is a truly astounding choral piece. I love Chapel Choir!

It was good- what else shall I say? Too bad we didn't get better seats- oh well, still good. Hey! You only have serious photos up here- I better send you some of the silly ones.chickenlittle27

i'm a little concerned that you refer to yourself in the third person with such frecuency.
