I KNEW IT!

I've told a few people before that I think I hear the Holy Spirit not so much as a direct voice like a person talking to me but as an "impulse." More often than not, the impulse doesn't make complete sense to me at the time, but in retrospect, it's one of those, "Well, DUH!" moments.

This one takes the cake.

Last week, on our way home from Grand Rapids, I asked Jordan if we could stop at the Family Christian Stores outlet for a few minutes. I went inside, poked around the performance tracks section, and found "Beautiful One." It's one of my favorites as of late, Jeremy Camp did a solid arrangement of it, and I don't think it'd make the congregation's ears bleed at Cornerstone (which is sometimes a trick-there's a lot of competing tastes). At the time, I really didn't HAVE to have the performance tracks, but I thought that it might be helpful to keep the CD on hand.

Well, they've suddenly become a LOT more useful. I looked through the mail after work and discovered an envelope from church. I got a little more than I bargained for when I opened it. As I predicted, the Celebration Singers schedule was inside, but so was the special music/offertory schedule. I'm scheduled on August 8 for another offertory-my second solo this summer!

Last week: "I'll get the performance tracks for 'Beautiful One.' It might be helpful later."
This week: "Well, DUH!"

Time to start practicing...
