Welcome to another great yearSo I just got back from Chapel Choir Retreat, which was a great time. We're going to have a fun year, and from what I can gather, the spring tour is going to be amazing-the New Jersey and New York region, which means the family out there can see us perform! That may not sound like a big deal, but considering that I've never really sung or played for them, and the fact that it'll be the whole Chapel Choir (with Dr. Richmond this year), I'm already excited! Huzzah!
The retreat began as always, with a convoy out to Pine Trail Camp (which I completely drove past the first time-go me!) and an evening rehearsal. With two birthdays on Friday, we then convened at the dining hall for pizza, a pair of birthday cakes, and then an EXTREMELY hot campfire with s'mores (or sch'mores if you're Dr. Richmond). Then about half the crew ran back to the chapel for either Apples to Apples, where Isaac kept talking about explosive diarrhea for unknown reasons, or in my case, an extremely LOUD two games of Euchre with Erin, Branden, and Susie.
With a restless night of sleep in a stuffy cabin, we went to breakfast and serenaded everyone with the "Doxology" and then a morning of rehearsal. I'm still not sure why Dr. Richmond makes us run down the baseball field and back but what the heck, I'm not as lardy as I once was, so no problem. I've really fallen in love with "Steal Away" and Moses Hogan's arrangement of "Elijah Rock!" Again, tour is going to be freaking sweet.
Riding back to Holland with Jordan, Branden, and Dr. R. was fun too. I never thought I'd talk with my teacher about "Guitar Hero," but go figure.
Quote of the retreat (for me, anyway)
(Peter's car is smoking for some mysterious reason)
Me: BLEAGH! What's that horrible REEK?!
Peter: SHUT UP!
Paul: It's YOU, Tyler!
I heart the Van Kempens... they're just like family
Get-to-know-you moment of the retreat:
Mary: Dating a hobo or eat a whole penguin? How about both? I can't eat a whole penguin, so I'll share my penguin with the hobo. It'll be dinner and a date!
Now for homework... and a shower... and sleep...
*Addendum* Dr. Richmond reported to the Chapel Choir that the Chapel Choir CD recordings are missing from the library. As upset as that makes me, I felt a little pride because yes, I uncovered this mystery. Who took them? Did YOU take them? Please bring them back!
