Current status during exams: unsure

As I write this, my roommate is engaged in his nightly ritual of bizzarrely patting his stomach, watching The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and saying something to me.

I've finished five of nine exams-here's the rundown.

Cleared:
-Exceptional Child Field Placement
-Encounter With Cultures
-Keyboard Skills
-Aural Skills II (final appointment)
-Piano Jury
-Middle School Music Methods

Remaining:
-Theory II
-Voice Jury
-Exceptional Child
-Aural Skills II (dictation exam)

I could have ended this evening a very angry person. I lost two hours that I could have used to study for an exam and practice for my jury because my D.O. colleagues let me down again. There are two things I don't understand. First, whose stupid idea was it to permit student recitals during exams? Second, why can't my "friends" help me when I need it?

I could have been angry. I ranted at Becky unfairly and then went off to the music building, angrily finished my job at the recital, and then went to the Up All Night Study Breakfast. The administration opens up the dining hall to every student, serves up a delicious breakfast (with real eggs!) to everyone, and lets the students stay until 11 P.M. I ate the meal with some colleagues from the department and then joined a bunch of friends for some good times. The climax was definitely when Slager and I held the first (and possibly only) Jenny Slager Soda Cocktail Open. Contestants had to create a drink using at least four different beverages. The winner earns bragging rights, everyone else... well, yeah, they didn't win anything. Ben's won the award for "Most Similar to Vomit," Rob's won the award for "Most Similar to a Microwaved Root Beer Float," Autumn's "Orange Slamma" took third place, Jeannette's "Jabberwocky" took second, and J-Rich's "Crispy Fang" won top honors. Afterwards, it turned into a huge photo-fest, which I avoided except for when I was spied with Brian Holda's hat all the way down my head. I apparently make a good headless, confused person.

I could have been angry. But I'm not. I had a good meal, enjoyed some good company, and made some more memories. That makes me thankful.
