Winter Break... how beautiful!
The Major General Music has been most appreciative of his break. Here's a recap of the weekend's events.
Upon arriving home, the Major General Music and his Viking Brother immediately departed for a LAN party out at Mason County Central Schools, hosted by the Techno Genius. There they spent time "shooting people" as Becky has been known to refer to playing "Medal of Honor." Then after several hours, they had enough and returned home to dinner and watching part of a cheesy movie
Saturday was a whirlwind day. The Major General Music first slept in till he felt like it and then received a phone call. It was none other than the Angela, inviting the Major General Music to join her and her cousin, the Jennie, in an afternoon of sledding. A good time was definitely had by all, as this was as Hockey Pete calls it, "real sledding." The trio had to dodge trees, go under fallen logs, bounce over branches, and so on. All had at least one major biff during the afternoon-the Angela sustained a slightly-zinged gum, the Jennie kept running into the same tree, and the Major General Music, besides flipping the sled more than once, wedged a stick up the sleeve of his coat. However, the highlight of the sledding experience came at the end on the final run. The Major General Music blazed the trail down the last hill, warned by the Angela of a hole in the middle of the slope. With that in mind, the Major General Music went sailing down the hill and he found the hole. However, the sled kind of slid into the hole and with the momentum, went airborne. Yes, airbone-the Jennie said I got some "olympic air" on that run, which made me excited. Following sledding, we returned to the Angela house, drank hot chocolate, built another bed in the Angela's room, looked at British digital photography magazines which touted expensive lenses and tripods, ate the remnants of dinner, went out and bought the following: ketchup, frosting, waffle mix, and Ben & Jerry's, and watched The Princess Bride. Yes, it's not exactly an action flick but it DOES have Andre the Giant in it, so it gets some points for that.
Sunday yielded the usual up at 8 schedule, listening to Interlochen's organ and church music, racing to church (this time listening to Blue Lake in the car), and rehearsal before Sunday School. Then comes the service, followed by lunch at Applebee's with the family, an early Valentine's gift from the parents (a bag of Snickers and 80s vintage pro wrestling DVDs, booyah!), an afternoon nap, and then back to the church for the evening service.
Monday meant the typical weekday during break-observation at the high school with the choirs, banking business, and then loafing at home and watching some of the vintage 80s pro wrestling. The evening consisted of watching more 80s vintage pro wrestling, chatting with the Becky, the Angela, and the Hockey Pete online, and watching the Viking Brother engage in urban criminal warfare in the trashiest American city ever devised. Tuesday? Back to Hope...

Ah- sledding. I love it! We might be going again this weekend Jennie just has to decide where would be good. I tossed a couple sleds in the back of the mini. She said there might be a good hill near Holland. We'll see.

And you forgot Snow Angels!!!!!!

Right, we made some really awesome snow angels too, right after we finished sledding. But sledding still was more fun. There's nothing like dodging trees and running over logs!

Tyler! Glad to see that you enjoyed your break. I'm not upset about the editing, but are you and your friend still planning on coming to GVSU for the play reading?

I'm not sure if there will be enough snow this weekend... but I'm hoping.

I may have to go swimming or puddle-hopping instead of sledding.

I went puddle-hopping today. One of them engulfed my boots completely. It was like a river.

Hei, I was searching around and I saw that you know Brian Coyle (well, he and his fam was in a pic on your site). I was just wondering how that weird guy is doing now-n-days? He was my jazz director 4 years ago, in the Blue Lake International Jazz Ensemble and I haven't seen him since. Oh, btw, nice site.
