Lessons from the Hockey Game

I went to watch the Hope College Hockey Team demolish Lawrence Tech, and they did just that. But something possibly even cooler happened. I was sitting at the game talking to Curt and he's suggested that we think as "Positive Realists." For some reason, this appealed to me. We need to think like a person actually living in the world we live in. Realism is, well, real? It keeps things in perspective. But by that same token, I think we can gain something by keeping things in a positive light. It's not bad to see the good in things; creation has been tarnished by sin, but when God created everything, He Himself said that it was good. Therefore, I think we can't say that good is completely gone in this world, especially when Christ has given us a promise of eternal life. That's DEFINITELY good.

On the way back from the game, I was listening to the radio. Some of my friends may call me a sap, but I really enjoy Christian radio. The advertisements may sound a bit cheesy, but I honestly think Christian radio can be encouraging. Anyway, one of the things the DJ mentioned on the station here in Holland was that recent news story in Missouri. The police arrested a suspected kidnapper and found not only a 13-year-old Boy Scout who had been missing since Monday but a 15-year-old who had been missing since he was 11 in the guy's apartment. That's something I'd call "good."

God still is at work.
