Only at Hope College...
Only at Hope College would I hear the chapel band blasting David Crowder Band music during The Gathering leading into Exam week. Cool thing is, it relates to Advent and Christmas. Go look at the words to "Here is Our King" if you don't believe me.
Only at Hope College would you hear the Dean of the Chapel talk about getting a Millennium Falcon for Christmas from Santa and then comparing getting a gift and playing with it to "playing with" the gift that God's given us. But it's a thought-provoking analogy, even though it does sound a little strange. What if we actually took what God has given us (among other things, faith, hope, and love) and looked at what we could do with them with the same imagination a child plays with new toys? What kind of world would we have if we let our imagination run like crazy with the faith, hope, and love that God has given us?
And only at Hope College can you get assaulted by hugs. Thanks to his height and long arms, very-tall Jon VanDutchyname encased Ross and me while we were talking after the service and succeeded in almost knocking me into the pew. I guess it might have been unsettling except for the fact that we're good friends, so I look back with a huge smile. I think people at Hope truly love their friends-I know I do. I have a feeling that's becoming less prevalent at a lot of other institutions.
Yup. Only at Hope College...
