Is it secret? Is it safe?
Earlier this past fall, a laptop and a digital camera were stolen out of my former piano teacher's office. Apparently he had gone into the music library to make a couple copies and left his studio door open. Within that timeframe (less than 5 minutes), someone managed to sneak in and swipe the computer and the camera.
That disappointed me, but today reminded me of Nykerk's amazing record of people finding lost objects, putting them somewhere in sight, and often the owner retrieves their lost item, at least in my experience. I had accidentally left a book for Music Lit somewhere in the classroom right before Winter Break. Come the following week, I found it right outside the Music Library on the table. I've found other stuff that belongs to me, too.
Earlier this past week, I managed to somehow lose my all-important notebook full of stuff for Secondary Block. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be quite a huge deal except for the fact that the class materials are almost ALL handouts that are best kept together in a binder. So when it got lost somewhere on Thursday and I discovered this on Friday, my heart sunk. I could copy materials from my friends, but it'd be a pain and I still wouldn't be able to replace everything. Fantastic.
Well, I contacted Emily and she had actually already made copies, when... there in Nykerk, on the coffee table in the couches, was sitting my Secondary Block notebook. Once agian, the music building has managed to save something that belongs to me and it has ended up where I'll find it. It's amazing.
The music majors at Hope College should have been given the One Ring. We apparently can keep things safe from outside hands that might do harm (except for that one incident).
