So yeah, the tone of this blog posting is definitely different than the others, but I think it is definitely worthy of the Xanga. It was too awesome, even though I unfortunately don't have a good picture to accompany it with the posting.
While I was at Hope for the past nine months or so, between the chapel services during the week, The Gathering, and meeting with the Bible Studs on Monday evenings in Jay & Pete's room and later in the Wy East Lounge (booyah, Jim Boerkoel and I maintained the only perfect on-time attendance record this year!), I saw & felt God around me. It was the most amazing thing I've ever really known, even though it seems that He's so far away. I'd walk out of The Gathering and look up at the night sky. It would be cloudless, the stars would glimmer, and I'd think, "Wow. God made all that, plus this earth, and yet He still loves me & cares about me even though I'm so tiny. What more could I possibly ask for than that?"
In coming home, I felt afraid. I love Cornerstone Baptist Church dearly, yes. But I feared that because the atmosphere isn't as active, and because I won't meet with the Studs again for almost four months, what will happen? Will this unbelievable "awakening" I've felt this year wane? Will my faith take a nosedive? Can I stay strong, serve in the "Celebration Singers" as Pastor Lew wants me to on Sunday mornings, and be an example in leading the congregation in worship to Jesus instead of being a showboat like I was for so long? I wasn't sure what would happen. Hope did a fine job in nuturing me spiritually; I didn't (and still don't) want to lose that.
On Friday evening, I felt reassured. I saw the most unbelievable sunset through stormclouds over Lake Michigan. The best way to describe it was that it looked like the Heavens had opened and God was saying, "Look, a glimpse!" It looked a bit similar to this, but not as dark:

If God can make something that spectacular with just a sunset through a stormcloud over Lake Michigan, what'll Heaven be like?

Thats right! I saw that too. I drove Erin to the Resord and out to the State Part and we stopped a while to look out across the water. Beyond that- sorry but I have nothing to add to this.
