"I think you've found your calling!"~Chelsea Stephenson aka the Chemistry Composer
The Angela is cries for an update, so an update you shall have! However, it is a serious entry... *gasp!* Thus, it is dedicated to the Angela.
The Major General Music has continued wondering to himself, "Self, should you be a music teacher? Do you REALLY have what it takes?" Ever since the year started, it's been a nagging, gnawing question that won't go away.
However, he's noticed signals, small and not obvious as well as blatantly clear. The Erikson Metaphor presentation went very well and Dr. Donk (what an awesome name!) loved it along with my classmates. The Major General Music had his first "teaching" experience two weeks ago and in doing the required self-evaluation, it wasn't as bad as he thought. If he can "teach" students how to play the clarinet, surely he can teach them to sing!
The Major General Music is learning about classroom management, too. Mr. DeBoer had him play "spy" with his choirs and it was a little exhilarating keeping the "evil eye" on the students.
But recently the Major General Music had an experience that basically screams "Teach vocal music, you fool!!!!" The Major General Music and his friend the Chemistry Composer were waiting for their piano skills class to begin and the Chemistry Composer asked, "Would you help me work on this solo?" The Major General Music happily obliged and the two spent close to 20 mins. on this solo. The Chemistry Composer told him at the end, "I think you've found your calling! You definitely need to teach music!"
Score one for the Major General Music!!!!

Serious posts are seriously not as much fun for me, but I'm glad you've reaffirmed what it is you want to do.

Well I know this is mostly serious but giving small children the evil eye is fun. It's kinda cool to already be slightly frightening to students. They look at me when I'm "watching them" and their sneaky expressions evaporate. "Mr. Racey is watching you..."
