Blessings, even in the rainNow seems to be a good time to write. Something about bad weather inspires me to write, or make music, or maybe both, but not really writing music. I leave that to Chelsea and Will.
Going home was good. Getting caught in a traffic jam and delayed by an hour wasn't, but I'll gladly take that if I can see my family, the three greatest kitties according to me, and my home for the first time in over a month. Mrs. Genson's memorial service wasn't easy to take. However, I was glad I made it and hopefully it meant something to the family. Getting some reassurance of Mrs. Genson's relationship with Christ, and more importantly that it was a strong relationship, made a world of difference for how I've been this week. No more question marks-she's in Heaven, and she's experiencing the promises given in Revelation 21, where there is no more pain or crying, where Jesus wipes every tear from their eyes, and where He dwells with them.
I've discovered something interesting about myself and churches. I love coming home to Cornerstone, and I've seen how much I've missed it; a LOT. But at the same time, my heart also lies with the people at Engedi. I miss my friends there, Pastor Brian, and the fellowship there. Something tells me that part of me will always love Hope College and Holland. Good things are happening here. The Gathering is finally attacking some real issues. The prayer up in front feels real, and it's even better when it's shared with friends.
I had my first real late night. Of all weekends to get a huge quiz (70 questions) from Instruments of the Band and Orchestra, I had to get one this weekend. I've learned more about brass instruments than I'd ever care to know. Thankfully Jay also had a late night, so at least I didn't bother him. And speaking of that class, it's still a barrel of laughs. I just about lost it when Prof. Leach referred to the "yazz flute" from Anchorman. Priceless stuff.
It rained a lot today. It thundered too, with impeccable timing. J.P. Sundararajan was just getting to a big moment in his talk about relationships, mentiong arranged marriages in India when the thunder roared. I swear God has a sense of humor-the whole chapel resounded with laughter. I came from Dimnent all the way to Nykerk (such a long distance, you know), and I had enough water in my hair to shake my head like a dog and amuse the Provost. But then it got sunny and warm and now it's raining again. I believe it was Nate that called it a thunder-sunshine sandwich or something to that effect. And Bible Studs rocked again this week. God's doing some wonderful things in the group, and it's leaving me excited every week.
It's almost Fall Break. I can't wait...
