Birthdays, Field Placements, and Kittens, OH MY!

Life never ceases to be insane in the life of the now 20-year-old Major General Music.

Things seemed to quiet down somewhat. His field placement safely determined, piano and voice lesson times secured, the schedule is set for the semester! The Major General Music had an adequate birthday celebration between a homefront party with two chocolate cakes, a shiny new digital camera, and time with friends. He was serenaded a rendition of "Happy Birthday" by the Hope College Chapel Choir and given another chocolate cake by a kind lady from the local church in charge of Hope's birthday cakes. He received a card and singing from the Pulling For Hope taskforce, albeit inferior to that from the Chapel Choir but nonetheless spirited and with good intentions. The Chapel Choir retreat begins in little over two hours from this writing and the Major General Music is excited.

And things at home are now crazy-go-nuts.

The Major General Music's in absentia brother, the Viking Historian, will be returning to the homefront shortly after a year of raiding England of historical knowledge dating from before the 11th Century A.D. The Major General Music also received word of a salmon boil at his home quarters up in Ludington, held in his absence with the Master Teachers Emeriti, better known as his aunt and uncle. Among other things mentioned during the conversation regarding the gathering was a small cat outside driving Neurotic Kitty and Mini Blimp up the figurative wall. The father figure took pity on the poor creature and gave her some much-needed nourishment. And so the vicious cycle begins.

The small cat has not disappeared.

The small cat appears to be at least part blue-point Siamese, the breed that most potently attracts the fancy of the Major General Music's family. The Mini Blimp herself is part seal-point Siamese.

But the biggest snag is the following: the small cat is glowing with kittens.

The parents once again contacted the Major General Music yesterday and made a telephonic connection today. They simply wanted the opinion of the Major General Music on the possibility of taking in this defenseless creature near giving birth to kittens.

Major General Music: ANOTHER cat in the house?
Parents: Maybe. She's pregnant.
Major General Music: Oh my...

Three chocolate cakes? Who do you think you are? I guess that means I don't have to make you a cake next year. I have a present for you! You won't get it until Sat evening though so you must wait just a little longer.

Sounds like you will be going home to another cat in the house.- My goodness three! We had three for a short period of time. Meshack, Sam and MaCavity.

Correction on my part: the cat doesn't appear to be a blue-point Siamese, although she does have the same wedge-shaped head that most Siamese cats do. However she IS the same slate gray color that Neurotic Kitty is and has the same ringed tail.

Kittens galore! Emily asked me if I or anyone I knew wanted a cat. I'm sure Erika's family now has kittens that need homes. Soon you family will as well and I saw a sign for free kittens on the drive over to Hope on Sat. I wish I could have a kitty at school but what would Soup think? Actually I thought that I might get a fish... maybe. I don't know what everyone else here would think of that idea.
